Writing, Research - Program Assistant

UMA is looking for a Program Assistant to support work on teams advancing a cross-section of goals, including capital access for manufacturers, entrepreneurship, and racial equity. The Program Assistant will support ongoing activities within these programs through writing, research, project coordination, and event planning. The Program Assistant will primarily focus on UMA’s two capital access programs: Pathways to Patient Capital (Pathways) and Tools for Equitable Acquisitions in Manufacturing (TEAM). Projects will be assigned based on need and the Program Assistant’s experience and interests. The most successful teammates will thrive in dynamic environments where learning is prioritized.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
In coordination with Directors, perform primary and secondary research on topics related to our Pathways and TEAM projects. This could include internet or primary source research, interviews, supporting focus groups, and more.
Lead, in coordination with Directors, the writing of policy papers, as well as thought-pieces, essays, and journalistic profiles of organizations, individuals, businesses, and others.
Edit working papers, policy guides, and other deliverable types, in collaboration with the publications and communications team as appropriate
Plan events and coordinate their execution, such as webinars and in-person meetings, including drafting agendas and coordinating with speakers.
Manage projects in full, in partnership with Directors and external partners.
Support network and campaign outreach activities, including research, drafting materials to send to potential network members, and tracking contacts and their engagement with the network.
Travel expectations approximately 5%.
Skills / Qualifications include:
Self-directed, team player; strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas to meet challenges with resourcefulness.
Strong writing, editing and interviewing skills.
Ability to quickly absorb and synthesize complex information into succinct and compelling written products for a diverse audience.
Strong organizational ability with capacity to manage multiple projects.
Highly organized and comfortable with daily management and project tracking.
Ability to keep information confidential.
Requires willingness and ability to occasionally travel and/or work evening and weekend hours (with the utmost regard to your safety and comfort levels as we move through pandemic recovery).
Understanding of, or experience with capital access - lending, equity financing - not required, but a plus.
Salary and Benefits
At least USD $55,000 / year
We offer a flexible benefits menu and salaries that are aligned with market benchmarks. Final offer amounts are determined by factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary.
