Development Coordinator
I. Position Summary
Reporting to the Major Gifts Officer, the Development Coordinator supports the management, analysis and improvement of information flow across the Development team and wider organization as it pertains to organizational fundraising efforts. The Development Coordinator manages Malala Fund’s fundraising administration work and donor records and conducts oversight of Malala Fund’s donor database, and other digital customer relationship management (CRM) systems. On an ongoing basis, the role works to identify areas where operational efficiency could be improved and advises on strategies to address identified needs. This position will also manage key relationships with consultants and partners.
The ideal candidate is highly organized with experience overseeing a large and highly active donor database housed within Salesforce or a similar system. They have demonstrable research and analytical skills, strong data management skills and are a data-driven thinker. They are a creative problem solver with high attention to detail. Due to the required subject expertise in data and analysis, a bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or completed courses in disciplines such as research, statistics and/or data analysis is required.
II. Responsibilities
Gift processing and system maintenance
Processes donor contributions from the U.S., U.K., Canada and other countries and works with Malala Fund’s Controller and Chief Operations Officer to reconcile all contributions on a monthly basis.
Develops and disburses donor correspondence through direct mail and virtually, including but not limited to donation receipts, thank you notes, letters to supporters and other documents according to donor recognition requirements.
Manages all donor and donation data inputs into Salesforce, conducts oversight and maintenance of the Salesforce platform, including donor information updates, logging communications, data clean-up, producing reports and advising the team in strategic use of Salesforce.
Manages Malala Fund’s system for tracking fiscal year revenue (including database reports, visualizations, and dashboards) ensuring the data is aligned across Salesforce and all other platforms.
Identifies areas where operational efficiency and systems could be improved and advises on strategies to address identified needs.
Stays up-to-date on best practices for nonprofit donor privacy and security to ensure proper audience management and compliance
Conducts Salesforce training with all new Development staff
Provides support and training to other departments using Salesforce
Development team administrative support
Supports the management of giving@malalafund.org and serves as the first point of contact for queries received, directing emails to relevant team members and answering general information requests.
Manages key relationships with external vendors or partners facilitating Malala Fund’s fundraising software, including but not limited to Salesforce and wealth screening tools.
Processes and monitors vendor invoices.
Processes and monitors expense reports for the Development team credit card and other financial data.
Develops and tracks core components of the Development team’s software budget.
Assists team with effective meeting scheduling, briefing notes, call preparations, travel booking and prospect research.
Project manages cross-cutting departmental initiatives and development team campaign efforts.
Supports direct mail campaigns to donors, including a major year-end appeal and other direct mail appeals throughout the year.
Oversees and improves donor correspondence processes through recommending and implementing new software and tech-based solutions.

III. Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours
Essential
A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Data analysis and statistical knowledge with expertise in Microsoft Excel and/or more advanced data analysis platforms.
Understanding of and experience with Salesforce.com and/or other CRM systems.
Innovative problem-solving ability and comfort researching, advising and implementing new tools and software across platforms, databases and CRM systems.
Strong project management skills, including planning, coordination and monitoring campaigns and ongoing initiatives across departments.
Past experience supporting non-profit data management and fundraising efforts in the U.S., U.K. or Canada.
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
Ability to multitask and prioritize a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Maintains the highest degree of professionalism.
