Position Overview
The HOW Institute for Society is seeking a Chief Program Officer to join our growing team. To succeed in its mission, The HOW Institute aims to achieve impact at scale through the building and expansion of their programming that reflects and reinforces their mission driven values. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, energetic, motivated, and collaborative leader who thinks strategically but is also comfortable driving execution and passionate about delivering results.
The ideal candidate will have a long track record of success as well as a deep resonance with the HOW philosophy and mission. They will have achieved success developing and introducing meaningful programs and creating learning experiences with strong mission alignment. The chosen candidate will help develop and launch programming that results from conceptual frameworks.
Demonstrated experience across a range of impact (from public engagement programs to programs with deep impact outcomes) as well as various delivery models (in-person, blended, virtual, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.) is preferred. The range of responsibility for this position will include helping to program our Moral Leadership Summit, developing PAUSE into a broad-based public impact campaign, improving our flagship high-impact NXT-GEN Fellowship for Moral Leadership while considering creating a version of the program for delivery as a MOOC, and developing and executing new program ideas as well.
This position sits on the Senior Leadership team along with the Director of Research and Impact, Director of Content and Communications, Director of Community and Partnerships and the Chief of Staff and Strategic Initiatives. The role reports to the Executive Chairman, works closely with the Chairman’s Office and fellow Senior Leadership team members.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and direct all activities related to planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programming and initiatives.
Develop new program offerings that support the Institute’s mission, deepen its impact and broaden its reach.
Lead a team accountable for overall planning, implementation, and effectiveness of programming strategies and initiatives.
Collaborate with other Senior Leadership team members to promote organization wide culture building and performance and contribute to strategy formation and refinement.
Establish, direct, and maintain a learning management system that ensures effective programming outcomes.
Ensure that coherent, aligned, and reinforcing programs provide value to and grow the stakeholder community.
Manage all current programming partnerships and create engagement plans to grow participation and revenue over time.
Develop, implement, and monitor the departmental budget.
Ensure attainment of earned revenue goals to the Institute’s sustainability.
Assess, scope, and identify program participation opportunities for the community.
Engage with the Institute’s stakeholder community to ensure robust and responsive feedback, improve customer journey, and enhance long-term relationships.
Support innovation and program development with key insights from the stakeholder community and marketplace to create sustainable revenue streams.
Ensure that program participant engagement and program initiatives reinforce the Institute’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Candidates who are strong fits for this role will have:
15+ years of program development experience with an emphasis on education, ideally including both global and e-learning experience.
Proven track record building large scale programming on behalf of a smaller business or non-profit entity and creating growing revenue streams from that programming.
An entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated ability to open new doors.
Experience developing and managing relationships at senior level, ideally.
Experience leading programming development in a mission-driven environment.
A proven agility to work seamlessly across cross-functional teams.
A strong work ethic, and an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
A nimble and flexible work style, with an ability to pivot quickly between projects.
Ability to think strategically while also managing tactics and logistics.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
A strong commitment to The HOW Institute for Society’s mission
A Bachelor’s degree with ideally a Master’s in a related field
Tech savvy, comfortable with CRM and Office applications as well as social networks.
Salary
$150,000 - $185,000
