Director of Digital Strategy
The Director of Digital Strategy will oversee digital product strategy and execution for the Better Food Foundation (BFF) and associated nonprofits that leverage BFF’s technology platform. The position will be responsible for collaborating with the executive team and directors to translate programmatic goals into digital strategy and to ensure that all digital platforms support and extend our programmatic work. This position will collaborate closely with the Director of Engagement and Campaigns, and will oversee digital product developers, content managers, and contractors.
Roles and responsibilities
Technology Strategy
Develop an organizational technology strategy to maximize the impact and reach of the organizations’ mission and active campaigns;
Manage all external websites and internal technology platforms, including: BetterFoodFoundation.org, DefaultVeg.org, FarmForward.com, JewishInitiativeForAnimals.org, and other partner sites;
Lead a redevelopment process for BetterFoodFoundation.org;
Collaborate with executive team and technology contractors to establish development priorities and roadmap;
Collaborate with technology contractors to make decisions about data strategy, and communicate the implications of data strategy to staff;
Collaborate with staff and partners to translate campaign goals into technical specifications; and
Oversee internal priorities to manage a calendar and timeline of projects and deliverables.
Analytics
Track and manage website analytics for all properties;
Develop event based goals for websites;
Manage ongoing technology development and investments to maximize site goals; and
Share weekly updates with Director of Engagement to help inform/refine social media and comms strategy
Adwords and Search Engine Optimization
Manage organizations’ Google Adwords programs to maximize traffic to properties; and
Conduct semiannual analysis of search engine results and optimize site content to help maximize organic traffic.
Management
When necessary, coordinate and manage contractors and consultants;
Coordinate team members to achieve campaign objectives;
Communicate implications of technology strategy to team and partners;
Keep team members motivated and informed about project progress. www.betterfoofoundation.org
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in technology product management, digital strategy, product marketing, digital communications, design thinking process, or similar fields.
Significant project management experience.
General knowledge of the following topics: animal protection, veg* advocacy, environmental sustainability, public health, and/or food justice.
Demonstrated creative problem-solving ability.
Proven ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Self-starting, with the ability to take initiative and follow through.
Ability to multitask, work with minimal direct oversight, and meet deadlines.
Support for BFF’s mission and the ability to advocate for BFF’s positions on a range of issues including being committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability and willingness to articulate and model the values of the organization.
Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic environment.

Location
Work remotely with some travel required for staff retreats and professional meetings.
Compensation
This is a full-time contract-to-hire position. After three months we will collectively evaluate whether the position is a match for both the employee and organization and if so, convert the position to salaried. During the three month period, candidates will have clear deliverables and will be given monthly progress reports describing any areas for improvement. Salary is determined based on a transparent formula that takes into consideration cost of living, student debt, and relevant experience. The salary range for the position is $68,000 to $80,000, which includes a healthcare stipend.
