Development Manager
The UndocuBlack Network (UBN) is a multigenerational network of currently and formerly undocumented Black people that fosters community, facilitates access to resources, and contributes to transforming the realities of our people, so we are thriving and living our fullest lives.
We do this by:
Developing the leadership of our members through tools, training and programming
Building power with and for our communities through advocacy, local organizing, and cultivating strategic alliances to advance policies that affect our daily lives
Centering the humanity, dignity, and wellbeing of our communities in all aspects of our work
Position Summary:
We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Development Manager to join the UBN team as we work to build impactful relationships with the communities we serve and our donors.
In this role, you will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and collaborate closely with our Development Consultant as we seek to raise funds annually in support of our programmatic and campaign work. You provide project management for all aspects of the organization’s grant management functions, including: revenue collection, proposal writing, marketing/development, media relations, social networking, grant reporting, website, newsletters and branding.
Responsibilities of the Development Manager include but are not limited to:
Networking and donor cultivation
Work closely with Co-Directors, Development Consultant, Director of Finance & Operations and others to develop and regularly update a comprehensive cultivation plan, with targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes and timelines to achieve sustainability and annual budget goals.
Collaboration & Communications
Builds partnerships and strategic alliances that will extend the organization’s brand in the community and increase avenues of support
Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications and build strong relationships.
Stay abreast of developments within our community environment locally, regionally and nationally to help guide our core mission and strategy
Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the UBN with the community.
Strategy & Systems Building
Track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising; some grant writing required
Strengthen existing systems and lead the creation of new ones for fundraising, including bringing greater cohesion between development and finance
Monitor trends in the community or region and create and/or adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out with a high level of quality and in a timely manner
Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of development funds assigned to the different programs and campaigns
Oversee donor database and tracking systems.
Fundraising
Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved
Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
Coordinate fundraising special events.
Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
Maintain gift recognition programs.
Perform other related duties as requested.

Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced proficiency in Excel
Fluency with Google apps
Read and interpret financial documents (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow)
Proven record of accuracy, efficiency, dependability, multitasking, and attention to detail
Prior experience working with the Network is preferred
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Fast-paced work environment
High level of concentration and attention to detail required
Time speaking and listening: (range 25–50%)
Participation in video calls and conferences is required
When permissible, travel may be required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA (required), MA (a plus)
Five+ years experience working with nonprofit or other businesses that rely heavily on donations and fundraising
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and other departments
Strong understanding of organizational goals and strategies
Proficient using Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, donor software and other data entry software
In depth understanding of marketing and marketing theories is preferred

Benefits
Salary
$70,000 - $80,000
UBN via Praxis offers a very competitive full-time benefits package including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick leave, paid vacation (15 days in year one of employment), 15 paid holidays per year, flexible spending accounts, 401k retirement plan with 6% employer match (immediately vested), and more.
