Location: Telecommuting – must be comfortable working from a home-based environment
Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer
Salary Range: $23 - $35/hour (DOE)

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Chief Finance Officer, the Bookkeeper/Controller will assume assigned bookkeeping/controller functions (ensuring 100% compliance with 100% documentation requirement) including AP/AR/Journal Entries, transaction imports, bank pre-reconciliations, payroll.
The successful candidate will have meticulous attention to detail and act in an energetic, ambitious, goal-oriented, and creative manner. The candidate will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Family Equality is a virtual organization, with employees throughout the country. The Bookkeeper/Controller is a part-time, temporary remote position open to candidates with their own office and interest speeds capable of supporting sustained video conferencing anywhere within the United States.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A successful candidate must have a “can do” attitude, enjoy a fast-paced environment, be highly organized without losing sight of larger objectives, and be committed to justice and equality for the LGBTQ+ community.
The qualified individual must pay exceedingly close attention to detail, have excellent judgment, and have the ability to work in a changing environment.
Solid grasp of US GAAP.
2-5 years demonstrated experience with posting directly to general ledger, or formal financial education with fewer years of experience welcome.
Experience with Sage Intacct (helpful, but not required).
Real passion for 100% accuracy 100% of the time – this is essential.
3 recent references.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with teams, as well as with individuals.
Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
Ability to work from a fully-connected home office (or, must secure own office space).
Education & Experience:
Sufficient relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word; experience with project management tools such as Asana; and experience with event management tools such as Eventbrite.
