Capacity Building Manager (Social Justice Training and Technical Assistance Attorney)

Our client, the Center for Survivor Agency and Justice (CSAJ), is dedicated to enhancing advocacy for survivors of intimate partner violence. They are seeking a passionate, advocacy focused, driven Capacity Building Manager/Social Justice Training and Technical Assistance Attorney to play an integral role in CSAJ’s work on enhancing economic justice for survivors. This junior attorney will lead efforts to enhance economic advocacy within the field via training, technical assistance, and partnership/coalition building. The Manager will advance economic justice for survivors by driving efforts that enhance the capacity of the advocacy field to meet survivors' needs and create broad organizational, community, and systems change.
The Capacity Building Manager will work in close collaboration with the Director of Research & Programs and will coordinate and collaborate with a coalition of on-the-ground consumer, economic, and advocacy experts, consultants, trainers, and organizational partners.
Capacity building efforts associated with this position include: providing individual technical assistance and training to advocates, attorneys, and organizations, developing advocacy resources, cultivating networks of on-the-ground experts, and offering legal and non-legal advocacy expertise to CSAJ's mission, including research and systems change. Critical to all aspects of this work are partnership building and an eye for systems change and broad impact. This position will work closely with CSAJ’s network of advisors and partners and work to expand our coalitions to benefit economic justice initiatives.
Qualified candidates will have a J.D. and a minimum of one year of direct legal representation/advocacy, preferably in domestic violence/sexual assault and experience with national and/or federally funded projects, partnerships, and coalition building. CSAJ is seeking individuals with experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of current conditions (and their roots) facing communities marginalized by virtue of race, ethnicity, citizenship, ability, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation.

CSAJ employees enjoy generous benefits and flexible working hours are wholly committed to creative vision, open communication, and justice-minded social change work. Available salary: $58,000 per year.
CSAJ is a small but mighty nonprofit with staff located in Washington, DC and Brooklyn, NY, and with Expert Advisors located in states across the nation. Staff work mostly remotely, but near CSAJ’s DC or NY offices. It is preferred for candidates to be located in DC/NY but there is the possibility of remote work for a well-qualified candidate.
