Writer/Editor (Contract)
National nonprofit organization’s Washington policy office seeks a consultant writer/editor/proofreader to work virtually, primarily via email. The writer/editor will assist a legislative advocate focused on disability policy with drafting and editing, for example, legislative communications, conference planning communications, and written advocacy materials such as fact sheets and research summaries. Most documents will be short (usually less than 2 pages) emails, business letters, and background pieces on policy matters. The successful applicant will be experienced with writing and lay out of targeted and impactful business communications, persuasive writing, as well as editing in Word and Excel using Track Changes.
Essential Qualifications
Excellent written communication, formatting, editing and proofreading skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to be responsible and turn around documents rapidly.
Hours
The hours will depend on the needs of the legislative advocate and the availability of the successful applicant, but many documents will need to be returned within 24 hours and often within 12 hours.

$15 per hour
All applicants are required to submit a resume, cover letter, and two writing samples no more than five pages in length.
