Who We Are:
The Modern Classrooms Project is a nonprofit organization that empowers educators to meet every student’s needs through blended, self-paced, mastery-based instruction. Founded by two award winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a research-backed instructional model that leverages technology to improve educator effectiveness and learner understanding.
To support educators in building Modern Classrooms of their own, we offer a:
Free Online Course, which gives educators a comprehensive overview of our instructional model and provides exemplars, templates, and other useful resources.
Virtual Mentorship Program, which empowers educators to work hand-in-hand with one of our expert educators to design a full unit's worth of blended, self-paced, mastery-based lessons for their students.
From September 2019-March 2020, we enrolled ~500 users in our free online course and directly supported 33 teachers in the DC area. From March-September 2020, we enrolled 20,000+ educators from 100+ countries in our free online course and directly supported over 500 educators nationwide through our virtual mentorship program. We are growing extremely fast and are looking for an excellent person to help us continue to scale.

Job Description:
The Modern Classrooms Project is a fast-growing organization that now serves over 20,000 educators worldwide. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers and we are passionate about what we do.
This will be our first marketing and communications hire and will therefore play a highly influential role in the organization. The Head of Marketing and Communications will design, implement and monitor effective marketing strategies to ensure that educators, schools, and districts are fully aware of the Modern Classrooms Project award-winning classroom instructional model and the free and paid teacher professional development experiences we have to offer. Compensation for this position will be between $70,000-80,000. The Head of Marketing and Communications will report directly to the Executive Director and will:
Develop and implement a cohesive and data-driven marketing plan to increase brand awareness, drive free course user growth, and generate potential leads to school and district partnerships.
Establish marketing metrics, milestones and KPI’s associated with measuring effective marketing campaigns.
Position the Modern Classrooms Project as a national thought leader in education reform, especially with regards to educational equity, effectiveness in systemically under-resourced schools, teacher effectiveness and satisfaction, students' social and emotional development, and student motivation and success.
Work in collaboration with a designer to optimize and maintain all digital platforms including website, online course and social media accounts.
Utilize databases and analytical processes to drive growth, including SEO.
Create and conduct customer opinion surveys.
Amplify and share the stories of educators who are changing the paradigm of classroom instruction.
Design and refine PR and brand communications strategy to support the organization's mission and vision.
Develop and manage a brand marketing and communications budget.
Who we are looking for:
3+ years experience in marketing, preferably in a high growth environment
Creative thinker
Self-starter who can work independently and think on their feet
Comfortable managing a large number of tasks at once
Data-driven decision maker
Passion for solving challenging problems
A natural communicator with strong writing skills
A structured and organized thinker driven to develop and refine scalable systems
Familiar with marketing platforms (e.g. Facebook Ads Manager, Google AdWords, Klaviyo) and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Optimize)
Passionate about making the world a better place
Comfortable working remotely
