Content Manager
MedShadow Foundation is seeking a content manager for our nonprofit health website. As content manager you will be expected to be or quickly become an expert in drug and supplement safety along with evidence-based alternative care. You must have the ability to understand and critically analyze medical research studies, and to be able to convey that information clearly and concisely to our layperson readership.
You will be responsible for growing site traffic and user engagement, with focus on retaining visitors and converting them to regular readers, subscribers, and supporters by posting compelling and timely articles, and coordinating efforts with the marketing manager. You’ll receive and brainstorm pitches and then either assign them to a freelancer or write them. Each week MedShadow publishes a minimum of one in-house written news round-up, one new, original story and an older article updated by a freelancer. You will frequently work with amateur writers for the “First Person” column of reader-contributed articles. You’ll be responsible for all top-edits and publishing all content, including promotional/development articles, through WordPress.
As content manager, you’ll work closely with the marketing manager to roll out unique content packages across channels (social media, email, and the MedShadow weekly newsletter). The job offers a lot of flexibility and autonomy -- you’ll set your own work priorities and schedule (within traditional working hours).
