Institutional Partnerships Officer

ioby seeks an experienced Institutional Partnerships Officer.

The Institutional Partnerships Officer will play a critical role on our development team. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, this team member will provide fundraising support for a growing organization. Responsibilities will include managing reporting requirements to all institutional funders, including working with staff to gather required information and writing reports (40%); partnership development, proposal writing, and fundraising from institutional funders, including foundations and corporations (40%); and relationship management, tracking, and administrative tasks (20%).

This job is based in New York, but we are open to applications from remote candidates, with a preference for Eastern and Central time zones. This job may require occasional work outside of ioby’s regular business hours (9am–6pm Eastern; Monday through Friday).

Job Objectives and Activities
Reporting / Stewardship (40%): manage reporting requirements to all institutional funders, including working with program and finance staff to gather required information and writing reports to foundations and other institutional funders; support creation of annual giving report.
Proposal Writing / Partnership Development / Fundraising (40%): play a key role in fundraising and partnership development from a portfolio of institutional funders, including: institutional funder prospect research and strategy; writing LOIs and proposals; developing budgets; setting meetings; preparing Chief Philanthropy Officer and CEO for meetings; pitching programs, partnerships, and sponsorships in writing and on calls and in-person; writing funder communications; institutional funder relations/customer service.
Relationship Management / Tracking / Administrative Tasks (20%): use a database to track contacts, manage relationships, and move a pipeline of institutional prospects and funders; support reconciliations and tracking with the Finance Team; understand that on a small development team there is a requirement to pitch in on administrative work, including meeting scheduling, occasional mailings, and supporting the Chief Philanthropy Officer.
Requirements
Candidates for this position must have the following work experience and characteristics:
At least 5 years experience, and a record of success, fundraising from and partnership development with foundations and corporations
Experience writing proposals and developing budgets to foundations and other institutional funders
Experience writing reports and other funder stewardship
Experience researching foundation prospects
Experience managing a donor pipeline
Obsessively detail oriented and meticulous
Excellent written and verbal skills with a strong sales ability to explain and gain support for programs and partnerships on phone, video, and in person meetings
Tenaciously driven to reach aggressive goals
Exceptionally articulate; able to simply explain a nuanced and layered solution to a complex set of problems
Willingness to being managed remotely
Highly responsive
Discreet; experience handling sensitive information
Capable of finding solutions on own
Flexible and has the ability to reprioritize tasks to meet deadlines under pressure
Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
Donor relations / customer service oriented
Capable of finding creative systems solutions to work for different groups of people
Able to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
Knowledge of the space in which ioby exists, including civic crowdfunding, civic tech, urban planning, community organizing, healthy communities, placemaking/placekeeping, arts & culture, shifting trends in philanthropy, urban sustainability, climate mitigation and adaptation, COVID-19 community response and recovery
Belief in ioby’s mission and the power of resident-led action in making change
Committed to racial and economic justice
3 years experience using a CRM (preference for Salesforce experience above all else)
Skills and experience working and collaborating in word processing (like Word and Google Docs), spreadsheet (like Excel and Google Sheets), and presentation (like PowerPoint and Google Slides) applications
Ability to quickly learn new applications/software
The ideal candidate will have some of the following work experience and characteristics:
More than 5 years experience in nonprofit development / fundraising
Experience working / being managed remotely
Experience "managing up"
Experience engaging institutional funders in events, including event sponsorships
Experience across other various funding sources, including individual donor programs, events, nonprofit partnerships, and government grants and contracts
Experience customizing, designing, and using Salesforce for donor management
Experience using team project management software (like Asana, Basecamp, Trello)
Experience working in an antiracist organization or with other anti-oppression work

Benefits
This is a full-time, salaried position in the $60,000–$75,000 range, commensurate with experience, and includes a generous benefit package (including full coverage for health, vision, and dental, 27 vacation days, 10 sick days, 7 holidays, and an attractive "Whole Person" policy).
