Development Associate
Life Pieces To Masterpieces (Life Pieces, LPTM) is a community-based nonprofit that uses artistic expression to develop character and leadership, unlock innate potential, and prepare African American boys and young men to transform their lives and communities. For over two decades, LPTM has fostered the creative, academic, social-emotional, physical and citizenship development of boys living in some of Washington, DC’s most marginalized Ward 7 & Ward 8 communities. From age 3 to young adulthood, LPTM provides a “Home Away From Home”, where our young men find love, security, and unlimited support to discover and activate their innate creative ability to turn life challenges into opportunities for self-reliance, resilience, and success.
We are searching for a dedicated and socially conscious Development Associate to assist our organization's development team in implementing strategies that ensure sustainability and organizational growth. This position is an opportunity to contribute to building a multi-faceted fundraising program in a well-respected and growing nonprofit with deep roots in the Washington, DC philanthropic community. Your expertise in supporting development efforts will assist LPTM in strengthening our fundraising capability, improving coordination of our development processes, researching and identifying funding opportunities, and promoting the organization's mission and values to external stakeholders.
Development Associate Responsibilities:
Support the Executive Director in investor outreach, cultivation, and stewardship.
Support the Board’s involvement in fundraising, including providing administrative support to the Resource Development Committee.
Track and update philanthropic requests, pledges, contributions, and grants in LPTM’s Salesforce database. Produce reports as needed.
Draft grant proposals and grant progress reports as necessary.
Conduct research, analyze data, and compile reports on current or prospective donors.
Manage Development Calendars and coordinate communication of key data among members of the fundraising team.
Prepare and disseminate prospect materials such as invitations, solicitations, and program updates.
Ensure timely acknowledgment of contributions and communicate regularly with donors re: pledge balances to ensure collection.
Assist with planning, promoting, and implementing fundraising/friendraising events and their follow-up.
Prepare and manage mailing lists for ongoing LPTM communications.
Update and manage LPTM’s Boilerplate Dictionary.
Assist with social media promotions and fundraising activities.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of work experience, 1 of which are in nonprofit fundraising
Creativity and a passion for youth development
A bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business/nonprofit management, or communications
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with donors and prospective donors, LPTM leadership, board, and staff
Strong computer proficiency in database management programs; high degree of comfort with Salesforce
Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources in Salesforce
Exceptional time-management and organizational skills to provide assistance to several LPTM fundraising efforts and events that may overlap
Excellent ability to effectively communicate via phone and email
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong writing and analytical skills for drafting grant proposals and reports
Ability to work flexible hours during fundraising campaigns and deadlines
Experience communicating and creating campaigns on social media

Compensation and Benefits Package The salary for this position is $45,000 - $50,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to financial compensation, Life Pieces to Masterpieces offers a robust benefits package that includes full health insurance, holidays, and opportunities for remote work/flexible work environment (especially while COVID-19 safety restrictions remain in place).
