Our Mission and Vision
Philanthropy Together is a new national initiative to scale and strengthen the giving circle movement. Our mission is to democratize and diversify philanthropy by bringing in hundreds of thousands more people into the collective giving movement: people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ people, those without wealth, youth, people in rural communities, religious minorities, various political affiliations and many, many more. We imagine a world where everybody is engaging in meaningful giving through robust conversations, and by building bridges with fellow givers & funding recipients to create change in the world.
The Role
The Marketing and Community Coordinator is an integral part of the tight-knit Philanthropy Together team. We’re looking for a storyteller to help amplify the diversity and power of the giving circle movement and to integrate Philanthropy Together as a supportive and fundamental part of the field. Philanthropy Together is a fast-paced work environment anchored in a clear mission and set of objectives around the growth and deepening of the giving circle movement. We hope you’ll join us!
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $50K-$65K commensurate with experience and geographic location.
This person will be an employee of our fiscal sponsor, Global Impact, and as such is eligible for their competitive benefits package which includes health, dental, and vision plan options, paid sick leave and holidays plus 15 days PTO, 401K match, and flexible spending accounts.
The role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Candidate Profile
The preferred candidate is a storyteller and multi-media whiz who is excited to shape the future of a movement with a national scope. They love building relationships with people and have the humility and curiosity needed to connect authentically with others across traditional social boundaries—including geography, race, socio-economic status, religion, and generation—to help showcase and celebrate the wide range of perspectives and experiences found in giving circles. They are a quick study, eager to learn, and passionate about grassroots philanthropy, giving circles, and changing the face of the philanthropic sector.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
2+ years marketing/communications/community-building experience, with successes in the crafting and promotion of new brands/ideas/campaigns
Superior writing and editing skills, including web, social, solicitation, persuasion, presentation, live scripts, press releases, and research
A creative eye and ability to translate an idea into a beautifully designed persuasive piece of marketing content that will compel participation in Philanthropy Together’s programs
Experience with weaving and empowering grassroots networks
Proficient in a wide variety of communications, design, and analytics platforms and willingness to learn new techniques and tools (Adobe Suite (Photoshop/InDesign), WordPress/Squarespace or similar, Canva, Google and Microsoft Office suite, Mailchimp, Salesforce, etc.)
Experience with data tracking and analytics to refine programming and content
Possesses self-motivation, drive, and ability to work independently, especially given the remote nature of the team
High Emotional IQ and service orientation to build authentic relationships with giving circle members to advance the broader mission of Philanthropy Together
An understanding of the manner in which issues of racial and economic equity intersect with philanthropy
Ability to confidently represent the work of Philanthropy Together at convenings, webinars, and one-on-one interactions with a wide variety of movement stakeholders
Great sense of humor, ability to bring joy to the work, and passion for people, relationship building, and the power of our mission
Committed to giving circles as a concept and Philanthropy Together’s mission, vision, values, and guiding principles
Job Functions
Messaging: Help drive and maintain Philanthropy Together’s brand voice across all content and platforms—existing and new—by developing core messaging. Be the keeper of our image, ensuring the team and partner networks and giving circles are properly equipped to communicate about Philanthropy Together.
Movement Storytelling: Coordinate with dozens of Networks and Giving Circles to develop a constant flow of stories, photos, blog posts, quotes and videos to use on social media, press, website content, etc.
Multi-Media Presence: Craft a compelling, consistent, and active presence for Philanthropy Together across a variety of mediums. Manage all media profiles across multiple platforms, including creating, editing, regularly posting creative content, engaging with the community, and analyzing metrics
Website: Keep the website current with regular updates to copy, content, and SEO; work with others in the organization to test different aspects of the site to improve usage such as calls-to-action, headlines, buttons, etc.
Community Management: Build long-term relationships with field members and other stakeholders to integrate Philanthropy Together as a supportive and fundamental part of the giving circle field; act as a conduit between existing giving circle networks and the services that Philanthropy Together provide to help them grow and thrive; and maintain deep knowledge of the entire movement and their associated activities and priorities
Programs: Develop creative marketing messaging (tailored to different audiences) to engage hundreds of new people into the collective giving movement across Philanthropy Together’s key programs. Regularly report on various network/circle involvement in programming.
Events: Support on all aspects of Philanthropy Together’s annual field-wide convening including content, messaging, social community coordination, logistics, tracking, budgeting, etc. to achieve event goals.
Measurement & Evaluation: Consistently use and report out from a database/analytics tool (like Salesforce) to understand our relationships and impact on the movement.

Hiring Process
