Job Summary
Chiefs for Change (CFC) is seeking a highly organized individual with outstanding writing skills, a strong interest in grant writing and reporting, and a passion for educational equity to help CFC advance its work. CFC will consider candidates with a wide variety of skills, with a preference for candidates with experience working with nonprofits. This is a remote position with a preference for the person to be based in the Washington D.C. area.
As an integral member of the development team, the Development Associate (Grant Writer) will report to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development to solidify and grow our funder base. This individual will be responsible for coordinating and tracking all development activities and supporting limited event logistics across the organization.
Responsibilities
Draft high-quality written materials for funders, including grant reports, proposals, letters of inquiry, presentations, and funder emails
Conduct consistent, timely, and accurate research, working with the development team to evaluate foundation, corporate, federal, and individual grant prospects
Review and analyze key grant metrics and performance data for synthesizing and reporting
Organize, manage, and maintain the development database in Salesforce to record and track relevant project/funder information including priorities and deadlines
Maintain internal and external meeting notes up-to-date to ensure strong knowledge history
Synthesize information and data on CFC programs and priorities for grant reports, proposals, and supplementary materials
Maintain all CFC contact lists, including funder lists, member lists, and general stakeholder lists
Attend external events to build new funder relationships for CFC
Requirements
Candidates must possess all of the following:
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize items to meet critical deadlines
Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
Exceptional written communicator; specifically can write compellingly about our organization, mission, and goals and effectively tailor messaging to different audiences
Passionate about Chiefs for Change’s mission and vision
Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Experience using Google Apps (i.e., Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Forms, etc.)
Strong experience with database systems, Salesforce experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree required; 3-5 years of professional experience
