The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading
The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) seeks to disrupt generational poverty and ensure more hopeful futures for children of economically challenged, fragile and otherwise marginalized communities. We support community-driven initiatives to improve the likelihood that these children will grasp the first rung of the success sequence ladder – graduation from high school.
Since its launch in 2012, the GLR Communities Network has grown to include more than 350 communities, representing 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and two Canadian provinces — sponsored by 5,200+ local organizations, institutions and agencies and supported by 500+ state and local funders, including 200+ United Ways

In response to an emerging need for more content during out of school hours, in 1992, the Schwartz Foundation created Foundations, Inc., a nonprofit, community service organization, to operate afterschool enrichment programs for children and families in underserved neighborhoods. Foundations, Inc. began by operating one afterschool program in an elementary school in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Today, 30 years later, Foundations has grown and diversified, building and sharing its expertise in learning across the entire day and leading a movement of new thinking about educational innovation and program design. The Program Associate – Learning and Engagement will provide production, analytical, and communications support around CGLR’s Learning and Engagement Opportunities (LEO) framework. The LEO framework is a series of weekly webinars and online learning opportunities designed to engage and inform the GLR Communities Network and others committed to promoting early school success and equitable learning recovery post-pandemic. This position will serve a major role in the ongoing production of weekly 90-minute GLR Learning Tuesdays webinars, offered every Tuesday from 3-4:30pm ET with additional LEO tracks targeted at philanthropic partners and practitioners taking place from 12:30pm-2pm ET on Tuesday.
Since the launch of GLR Learning Tuesdays in September 2019, CGLR has hosted more than 200 webinars, engaging nearly 600 leaders as panelists, including dozens of superintendents and principals and several state education chiefs. This Program Associate is remote and will report directly to CGLR’s Manager of Learning and Engagement Opportunities, who is based in Princeton, NJ. This individual will work with a diverse team of webinar session leads, social media consultant, design team, and others around a shared goal of delivering consistent, high-quality, informative, and engaging webinars designed to mobilize, inspire and engage practitioners and leaders across the country.
- Manage daily schedule of email promotions, e-newsletter, day-of reminders and follow-up emails tied to LEO webinars, including serving as the point person for session descriptions and updates from LEO webinar session leads and compiling outreach messages sent to CGLR’s core constituency lists.
- Assist on the production of 1-2 weekly webinars, delivered via Zoom and live-streamed via Facebook, including managing Zoom logistics, speaker audio and video, advancing slides, delivering initial announcements, monitoring technical issues, and posting post-webinar recordings and session summaries to CLIP and YouTube.
- Synthesize and analyze webinar attendance data, lifting up patterns and trends to inform engagement, decision-making, continuous improvement and adjustments to the LEO model.
- Provide support to the LEO Manager and a team of GLR staff and consultants on the development of a new LEO microsite that will highlight LEO faculty, session summaries, and curated webinar content from sessions since LEO’s launch in September 2019.
- Provide Zoom and related platform support for GLR Week, CGLR’s annual week-long virtual conference that takes place during July of each year, and other events or virtual meetings as needed
- Support and keep current the back-end internal systems and structures that assist CGLR’s staff and consultant team to stay current on each other’s work and learn from each other, including the development of a cloud-based CGLR Knowledge Center
- Perform other communications, administrative, and logistical duties as needed
Skills and Attributes
- The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience, qualifications and characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, communications/marketing or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience with project support and/or implementing marketing and communication strategies and concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with keen attention to detail in written communications
- Ability to work both independently and in teams and proactively take on tasks
- Ability to function well in a virtual team environment
- Proven and effective project management and problem-solving skills
- High level of comfort with Zoom technology, Google Sheets and Docs, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Excellent team player with high energy and positive attitude
- Able to manage multiple activities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Experience with Campaign Monitor and Salesforce, or similar CRM and email marketing platforms preferred
