Nonprofit Remote Digest - Issue #63
By Nonprofit Remote • Issue #63 • View online
Hey there, I want to introduce you to Nonprofit Remote—a place where remote workers, volunteers, and nonprofits connect. For the past few months, I have been working on this project aiming to bring remote working more accessible for people seeking remote opportunities in the nonprofit sector.
I am trying to reach 1,000 subscribers before launching the service, and you will be the first to know when it launches. It’s free for job seekers to create your profile (public resume page), search for jobs, learn about different organizations hiring remotely, connect with others, discover tools and discounts for nonprofit workers, and much more resources to make remote working ideal for the nonprofit/NGO sector.
The best way to support this digest is to share it with others, or join as a member, or consider sending a coffee ☕️ my way. 🙌
If you have any suggestions or questions, please email me personally at [email protected] Until then, enjoy the daily digest!

Operations Specialist, Dream and Discover
About Us
Transcend is a national nonprofit dedicated to accelerating innovation in the core design of “school”.
Role You’ll Play In This Work
You will be a core member of our Dream & Discover team within the School Partnerships function, and you will manage the operations and logistics for multiple cohorts of system and school leaders who are at the earliest stages of redesigning their school models. (You can see an example of what this experience has looked like in prior years here). You’ll be in charge of planning and executing on-the-ground operations for multiple in-person Convenings per year, drafting and managing important communications, masterminding travel plans and vendor negotiations, and ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for Transcend partners throughout the cohort-based experiences.
The Nitty Gritty
You can expect to lead and manage operations + logistics for in person events, including multi-day Convenings for 40-100 people, as well as Inspiration Visits to schools and other organizations. Your primary responsibilities:
  • Set vision for and manage all on-the-ground operations during in-person events to ensure an experience that is not only seamless for participants and staff, but that also serves as a model of intentional design
  • Source and secure vendors (venue, hotel, transportation, and meals) for multiple in-person Convenings and Inspiration Visits per year
  • Research and communicate travel schedules and plans for education leaders from across the county
  • Make diligent and detailed operations plans for our team and Transcend partners to ensure each team member has a clear role throughout each Convening
  • Manage our operations budget and track spending to ensure responsible stewardship of our resources
  • Build and grow relationships with Transcend’s school partners, as well as schools and other organizations that we’ll bring partners to to be inspired in the design process
  • Manage internal and external operations-focused communications:
  • Draft operations and logistics communications for internal and external audiences
  • Write and edit emails and other written materials to system and school leaders from across the country, to ensure they have up-to-date and accurate information about program events and opportunities
  • Coordinate with external presenters (planning school visits, prepping guests, etc).
  • Note: this role will involve frequent travel (approx. 1 week / month)
What You’ll Accomplish in Your First 6 Months
  1. You have a clear vision for success associated with each project you’re contributing to.
  2. You have successfully executed at least one Convening. Participants will have felt inspired, taken care of, and provoked because operations were smooth and aligned to our goals.
  3. You have a vision for how we can take our operations and logistics work to the next level.
Who You Are
You believe deeply that all students deserve an excellent education, and that too few receive that today. You develop a compelling vision for each event you host – be it a dinner party with friends, or a professional learning experience – and you excel at thinking through and executing all of the small, behind-the-scenes details that create powerful, nurturing experiences for all. You take initiative, manage your and others’ time effectively, and pride yourself on your ability to get and stay organized. You enjoy helping others get organized, too. You have exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with everyone – regardless of title or position. You’re optimistic, a problem-solver, and enjoy finding flexible, effective solutions where there’s not always a “right” answer. You’re open to feedback, eager to grow, and bring your best to everything you do. You like being part of a team, and make and keep friends easily. You have a sense of humor, and want to work with others who do, too!
