Center on Addiction merged with Partnership for Drug-Free Kids in January 2019 and is the nation’s leading science-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming how the nation addresses addiction. We empower families to support loved ones, advance effective addiction care and shape public policies that prevent and treat addiction as a public health issue. With headquarters located in midtown Manhattan, Center on Addiction is the only national organization committed to supporting the whole family as it addresses every aspect of substance use and addiction, from prevention to recovery. Our Helpline helps parents and caregivers impacted by teen and young adult substance misuse. We are seeking Master’s level clinicians with experience in addiction treatment and/or family treatment to work remotely in the evenings and on weekends.
This role will focus on staffing our Helpline service–responding to digital and telephone conversations with individuals contacting the Helpline. Helpline Specialists offer empathy, support and provide guidance and resources for next steps in getting help.
Our philosophy for support services relies heavily on the principles of Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These interventions are effective in helping parents and caregivers respond to their teen and young adult children in more productive ways and increase the likelihood for positive outcomes for the family. Training will be provided as well as ongoing mentoring and supervision.
