Research & Measurement Analyst at The Learning Accelerator
TLA is searching for a new member to join our nationally recognized, innovative, and growing nonprofit as a part-time Analyst to support our programs work. Reporting to our Research and Measurement program leader, this role presents a unique opportunity to work alongside diverse collaborators in the K-12 educational space to build ecosystem capacity to generate, translate, and disseminate data and information to improve collective outcomes in the education field. 
This position will allow the Analyst to gain experience conducting developmental and formative evaluations and education research for education program improvement as well as gain exposure to innovative practices across multiple public, nonprofit, and for-profit entities. One of the major initiatives already underway for the Research and Measurement team is a partnership with a leading performance-based school system that is using research science to “connect the dots” between innovative professional learning opportunities for educators and outcomes for learners. Through projects like these, TLA’s work brings together district leaders and technology specialists to develop measurement and data strategy and systems to discover which strategies lead to long-term change in educator and learner experiences, thereby supporting effective implementation and improving student success. TLA also makes knowledge of these strategies widely and openly available to the broader field. 
Position Location
As TLA is a national remote organization, the Analyst will work flexibly from a location of their choosing. Occasional travel to participate in team and project events is required (up to 10%).
Key Responsibilities
Key initial responsibilities upon entry will include:
  • Provide thought partnership and input into project evaluation and research design (including data collection, management, and analysis plans).
  • Manage, organize, clean, maintain, and collect learning data for analyses.
  • Conduct preliminary quantitative statistical analyses (e.g., multiple effect size calculations from a single dataset, and multilevel analyses such as hierarchical linear models [HLM], structural equation models [SEM], path analyses, and/or others).
  • Help interpret and communicate findings, recommendations, and actionable insights from these analyses, primarily through written reports.
  • Support work meetings and presentations of progress and findings, both verbally and in writing, to our colleagues within and outside of TLA, including district leaders.
  • Provide input and recommendations on data systems development and implementation. 
  • Partner effectively with other leaders within and beyond TLA, including our External Relations team and district partners to share insights with the field and infuse a research and measurement perspective into other knowledge, tools, and networks focused on advancing innovative approaches to education. 
Skills, Experience & Qualities
An ideal candidate will bring the following:
  • Experience conducting all phases (startup/design, data collection, interpretation of findings, final report) of at least one project that required quantitative inferential or statistical analyses, such as effect sizes, multilevel modeling (e.g., hierarchical linear models, structural equation models), path or trend analyses, or other similar analyses.
  • Possess a learning orientation, adapting tools and resources as needed in response to insights from educators, practitioner learning experts, and user data.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication of research and/or evidence to audiences with varying levels of experience and expertise.
  • Experience working with teams who help build or manage multifaceted education databases as well as cleaning, merging, and manipulating data from these systems.
  • Competence in any of the following is a plus: short-cycle research, data analytics, data visualization, Bayesian analysis, research translation, and/or working with student-and adult-learning district data, e.g., Student Information System (SIS) data, Learning Management System (LMS) data, educational technology usage data.
  • Energized by ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and excellence, with an eye towards improving quality and making teams and organizations better. 
  • Commitment to and modeling of practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Passion for TLA’s mission to improve teaching and learning and alignment with our core values.
  • Comfort with remote work and able to work independently and dependably.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time position (~15-20 hours/week) and an opportunity to work in a flexible, culture- and mission-focused professional environment. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
