The Institute for Ecological Civilization works internationally to support systemic approaches to long-term sustainability by developing collaborations among government, business, and religious leaders and among scholars, activists, and policy makers.

Communications Manager (Part-Time)
Who We Are: The Institute for Ecological Civilization (EcoCiv) is a 501©3 non-profit that works internationally to support systemic approaches to long-term sustainability by developing collaborations among government, business, and religious leaders and among scholars, activists, and policy makers. We build effective partnerships across social sectors through consultations, think-tank gatherings, and policy engagement.
The Position: Part-time (15-20 hours/week), remote communications manager role that manages all aspects of communications for the non-profit, including:
  • social media, including content strategy development, content creation, copywriting and image selection, posting, and analytics tracking;
  • website updates and posting, as well as design and branding implementation;
  • press releases, including copywriting and dissemination to appropriate media or partner outlets as well as maintaining media partner lists; and
  • email newsletters including content creation, design, analytics tracking, organizing, and maintaining email lists.
Responsibilities
Assist development personnel in drafting outward facing documents, ensure they meet our branding guidelines, and assist with communication aspects of development campaigns (i.e. annual fund or Giving Tuesday campaign).
Collaborate with development and program personnel in creating a new marketing plan including social media strategy and email marketing. Apply marketing and communications best practices and strategies to a growing non-profit that is seeking to define its target audience, expand its message, and grow its donor database.
Review all outward-facing documents to ensure compliance with branding guidelines.
Listen to project updates and draft relevant social media posts, e-newsletter pieces, or website updates based on developments in current projects.
Work with technology consultant on website backend, Google Analytics, SEO, and security.
Work as a team member and participate in team calls on a regular basis via Zoom.
Required Experience
  • WordPress (basic understanding at minimum)
  • Graphic design (Adobe CC or Canva).
  • Ability to translate complicated and abstract environmental and social justice concepts into “layman’s terms”.
  • Experience in growing social media followers and newsletter lists with conversions to donors, event attendees, or in some cases, sales.
  • Strong and demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Strong and demonstrated verbal communication skills.
  • Strong and demonstrated computer/technology skills.
  • Strong time management and self-motivation skills.
  • Able to work remotely.
