PEJ is a 501©(3) charitable organization, and its mission is to assist victims of mass atrocities and serious human rights abuses to find justice through all available legal mechanisms.

Part-time Remote Grant Writer / Development Consultant
Small, international non-profit seeking grant writer who can also work on development for fundraising purposes. Project Expedite Justice (PEJ) is a non-profit whose mission is to assist victims of mass atrocities and serious human rights abuses to find justice through all available legal mechanisms. We leverage our expertise in litigation and trial work to build the capacity of communities and organizations on the ground to collect evidence and document abuses. Our team is based in the United States, Asia, and Europe, and our work is focused in Africa and Asia. The selected individual will work remotely in collaboration with our director and lead counsel. 
Duties Include:
  • Researching and writing grant proposals.
  • Drafting letters of interest.
  • Managing the grant process, including managing the grants calendar and ensuring that new and renewed proposals, reports and other materials are submitted on time.
  • Writing grant proposals to foundations and corporate funders, with the goal of increasing PEJ’s cumulative support each fiscal year.
  • Ensure a pipeline of new funding prospects through ongoing research
Ideal Candidate:
  • Background in the human rights legal sector preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Preferred familiarity with funding proposals in the human rights legal sector
  • Ability to understand and willingness to learn legal concepts
  • Development professional with experience working in the non-profit sector
  • and writing grants
  • Excellent writer and communicator
  • Strength of time management and able to meet deadlines
  • Works well in a team environment 
  • Self-starter who needs very little direction
  • Strong work ethic and high standards for his/her own work and the work of others.
  • Passion to see justice in the world.
Compensation:
Support will be provided based on a flat day rate commensurate with experience.
Estimated Hours Per Week:
Flexible, depending on grant applications and deadlines. An estimate of 2 days per week is a reasonable guideline, depending on grant deadlines.
