Dancing Classrooms is an arts education provider to New York City public and parochial schools with a mission to cultivate essential life skills in children through the practice of social dance. For 25 years, our in-school residencies for 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th grade children have helped lay the foundation for lifetimes of character and leadership.

Program Coordinator
We’re looking for a full-time Program Coordinator to help manage our program in schools across NYC. Our dream candidate is a professional who already has administrative and customer service experience. If you’re outgoing, take initiative, pay attention to detail, get a kick out of solving puzzles, and believe you could work in a busy, occasionally chaotic, environment with grace and good humor, we’d like to talk to you and see if you’d make a good addition to our team. You would be joining a fun and dynamic team in a fast-paced and virtual work environment. Although you will be working in a remote capacity, there will be regular in-person and video conference meetings with the team along with consistent work in the field.
Below are the Program Coordinator’s responsibilities:
  • Set up ballroom residencies with over 100 schools per year in all five boroughs. This includes scheduling classes and meetings, communicating with classroom teachers and school administrators by phone and e-mail, managing multiple calendars and keeping records of the services delivered.
  • Make staff assignments, and manage the schedules of 40 other Dancing Classrooms employees, balancing the needs of our clients with the needs of our staff.
  • Managing the residency booking process for approximately 100 schools in all five boroughs, including calendar management, staffing, record keeping, etc.
  • Pitch our program to potential new clients, and help them through the process of getting a Dancing Classrooms residency.
  • Organize, staff and attend quarterly special events in the evenings, including our after-school youth ballroom competition cycles and an all-day year-end culmination competition on a Saturday in late June.
  • Working with the Finance Department to bill schools for services and to assist in the collections of school receivables, as well as to gather data necessary to generate calendars and payroll reports.
  • Help manage all data collection systems, including Google Apps, Dropbox, Filemaker, and survey software.
  • Along with program leadership, maintaining the high-quality program standards expected by our school partners and helping to ensure adherence to organizational mission and brand
Here are some of the qualifications we’re looking for:
  • Strong organization and time-management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to have tough conversations 
  • Ability to look at data, understand its implications, and identify next steps 
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment 
  • Experience and comfort with facilitation of classroom sessions and events 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus 
  • Knowledge of NYC community, school culture landscape a plus
  • Three (3) + years of professional experience in program development, youth development, education and/or logistics management 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
·             Active driver’s license and willingness to drive to schools to administer after-school dance competition program
  • Demonstrated interest in working with people from various backgrounds and comfort interacting remotely with constituents
  • Customer service orientation with demonstrated support for remote program constituents
  • Demonstrated self-starter and proactive problem solver, able to elevate challenges and collaborate with leadership to develop solutions
  • Proven effectiveness in high-volume case management and customer/constituent support within a fast-paced setting
  • Strong organization and project management skills with ability to balance multiple priorities and high-volume tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Travel to external meetings, partner schools and organizational events in NYC
  • Ability to house and maintain a home office
Salary is commensurate with candidate’s experience. Competitive health and vacation package.
